Chance Moore

Music Teacher - Guitar

Chance Moore serves as a Music Teacher at Xavier thanks to our partnership with Writers in the Round. After completing his work at Chireno High School, in Chireno, Texas, in 2011, Chance Moore entered Angelina College, where he earned an Associate degree in music. A major highlight from his Angelina years was performing as the All-State Jazz Guitarist at the Texas Music Educators Association in San Antonio in 2013.

After his time there, he transferred to Stephen F. Austin State University in Fall of 2013, where he majored in Music Composition and gave guitar lessons privately through SFASU’s Music Preparatory Division. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2016, earning a Bachelor of Music degree.

In 2017, upon receiving a half-graduate assistant-ship to work for the Music Theory and Sound Recording Technology areas, he returned to Stephen F. Austin State University to attend graduate school, majoring in Music Composition and Theory.

While he continued with his teaching duties in the Preparatory Division, he began playing guitar for the First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches and for Abundant Life United Methodist Church.

In his second year of graduate studies, Chance studied abroad for a semester in Australia at the University of Tasmania, where he had the first international premiere of an original work.

In Spring, 2019, Chance was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda national honor society for music. He received a Master of Music degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2019.
